Dear supporters and community members,
I am excited to announce my candidacy for Assembly District 36, representing vibrant cities in Riverside, Imperial, and San Bernardino Counties. Having served the City of Indio as a council member and as its first African American mayor, I've dedicated myself to fostering diverse housing, education, healthcare, and public safety.
Throughout my 22-year employment in Imperial County, I've actively participated in local and regional committees addressing crucial issues such as water, energy, homelessness, tourism, public safety, and transportation.
In response to challenges like COVID-19, homelessness, and housing shortages, I've allocated over $750,000 in grants, supported affordable housing initiatives, and championed public safety through community-oriented policing. My commitment extends to addressing housing insecurity, advancing mental wellness services, and advocating for the Salton Sea restoration. Say something interesting about your business here.
I recognize the unique challenges facing Imperial County, including water rights, job opportunities, healthcare access, education, and the critical Salton Sea restoration. My dedication also extends to transportation and climate change, advocating for projects like the Coachella Valley Rail (CV Rail) Project to combat climate change and stimulate economic opportunities.
